Presenting, Demoiselle Designs!

Hello everyone, today I am going to feature a great Etsian, DemoiselleDesigns. At this shop you can find some beautiful jewelry! So I suggest you check it out!

I'm Lauren, a 26-year-old living in the Boston area. I live with my sister and my dog Cody in my grandparents old house. I work as a wetland scientist by day... and in my spare time you can often find me making jewelry in my "studio" (a spare room in the house filled with beads and stones and wire and tools).

Lately I have been focusing a lot on geode slice necklaces and earrings, although I also make many pieces using semi precious stones, shell, feathers and pearls. I think what makes my jewelry stand out is its natural rawness and simplicity. I like to make jewelry that is unique, yet versatile and timeless. If I had to pick a favorite right now, it would be my newest geode slice necklace:

I love the dainty shape of this stone on the delicate chain. The photo doesn't do justice to how beautifully the crystals sparkle in the sun!

I had heard of Etsy through one of my best friends, Nikki, who is probably the most stylish person I know. She always likes to have something different, so she buys most of her handbags and accessories on Etsy. She was one of my biggest supporters from the start and suggested I set up my own shop. So I did- I set up an account about 2 years ago... but didn't begin posting items in my shop until 2 months ago!!! I think I was intimidated by the super-saturated jewelry market and all the outstanding talent I saw in this comminity. I am so glad I finally became an Etsy seller - never in my life have I been exposed to so many like-minded souls. As a new seller, I've found that Etsy is a great place to get exposure for my product, but also, it is a place to interact with other creative minds and LEARN.

I'd like to establish a solid niche for myself. I'm always experimenting so I can't say I know exactly what type of pieces I will be making in 5 years! I'd love to have found as much success as some of the talented sellers I look up to, become a regular on the front page, and maybe even be featured in a front page article.

I'd like to have perfected the art of the eye-catching Etsy photo; when you sell on Etsy, it is ALL about how you present your work in the photos. The most successful jewelry artists on Etsy have mastered the perfect balance of light, the perfect angles and backdrops - one talented seller whose photos always jump out at me is PoleStar (her work is to die for).

All in all, I'd like to be a better artist, reach a wider audience, and expand upon my skills. I think Etsy is a great vessel to help me do just that!
