Happy Sunday!

Hello everyone, I hope you're all having a great Sunday. I am being pretty lazy today, I don't know why, it's something that always happens on Sundays.

I feel like lately I've been really slacking on my blog here and on my etsy shop. Life has been pretty hectic. Some family came to town this week to visit, my sister is getting ready to go away to school for the year, one of my best friends is moving away soon and I've had a few job interviews. But once I get a job, and everything around here starts to settle down, I think I will get back into a steady routine.

The weather looks great, so I think I might go sit out in it, I hope you all have a great day! Hopefully I will be back to regular blogging very soon! Thanks for reading!

Pajama Pants Under Construction!

I have been so slack lately, just haven't been on the computer much. I had a job interview at fabricland today, and I have another one at Rickie's tomorrow! Quite excited, I hope I get at least one of the jobs.

Anyway, I've started making some pajama pants recently. I bought 3 different flannelet prints. One that is pink with images of cupcakes, another that is striped with purple, green and white, and a purple solid. I can't wait to get them up on my Etsy.

I have a few pairs of the cupcake fabric pants cut out and ready to sew. I still need to pre-wash the other fabric.

I'll definitely post pictures of the finished products once they are done!

My Interview with Jibri Online

Hello everyone! Today I am pleased to share with you my interview with Jasmine of Jibrionline.

At Jibrionline you can find great fashions for curvy plus size women. I really wanted to interview this shop because I know it's really hard for women to find nice plus size clothing out there, and I want to let them know that they do exist.

Why did you decide to focus on plus size clothing?

I've made my clothes most of my life, but when I entered the work world I didn't have time to sew as much.  I was forced to shop retail. I realized how "blah" the plus fashion market was. I decided right then that I'd start a plus line.

How long have you been an etsy seller?

Just over a year...I joined May of 2009 and listed my first piece in June 09.

What made you decide to start selling on Etsy?

A friend of mine constantly talked about Etsy....I needed a webstore but didn't have the know how to set up a full webstore. Etsy was perfect for me. A marketplace for independent artists and designers. Perfect!

Where do you find Inspiration for your designs?

I love to travel so I definitely pick up a lot of inspiration that way. I'm also inspired by vintage cinema, music, art, powerful female figures and underground culture.

How do you usually promote your shop?

I do quite a few shows and events catered towards full figured women....that definitely helps spread the word on my line.

What do you like to do when you’re not doing etsy related things?

I'm a travel addict so I spend as much time on the road (or skies) as possible.

Do you have any advice you could give to people just signing up to etsy?

The main thing they stress in all the Etsy "how to's" is to be sure your pictures are clear. I think they're right! Also....stay true to your craft. Don't let outside influences drown your creativity.

Where would you like your shop to be in 5 years?

I'm certain that the Esty consumer base will continue to grow. I'd live to grow right along with them! :)

Colour Themed Treasuries

Lately I've done a few colour themed treasuries, and I want to share them!

This pink one I did because my favourite colour is pink. I suggest checking it out! you can see it here

This purple one was for my best friend because her favourite colour is purple. You can see it here

And this orange one is for a friend I recently became very close with again. Obviously, their favourite colour is Orange. Check it out here

I find making treasuries so addicting!

I made a topic in the Etsy forums telling people that if they make a treasury for me, they will get posted on this blog and a link to the curator will go on the blog as well. I will be posting that on the 20th. So be on the lookout!

If you wish to take part in this, you can see the topic here

Have a great day everyone!

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

I slacked yesterday, and the day before. But I did do a lot of work on stuff. Mostly patternmaking for PJ pants.

I'm also in the process of making a turquoise dress, like this one, only the solid for the body and the print for the yoke.

And also a hot pink dress that looks like this. (The one with the flounce at the bottom)

Anyway, enough about my current projects. I want to talk about a lovely surprise I had today. I am a member of Aimgirl.com, and have been since I was about 15. It's a forum that mostly targets young girls, but there are some boys as well. And there is also a pretty big age range. Anyway, my surprise...

Every month they have a "member of the month" thing, and today I found out that I am the member of the month for August. This made me really happy, because I love posting on this forum, I love giving people advice and support, as well as participating in fun discussions.

On Aimgirl you can talk about just about anything, there are places to rant, talk about your relationships, talk about food, fashion, music, tv, pets, society, and much much more! You meet a lot of different people that you normally wouldn't, which is a great experience. When I need opinions about something, I go right to Aimgirl.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic day!

Sunday Post

Happy Sunday!

I don't have too much to talk about today. I am a little depressed that it is the start of August today. The summer seems to have gone by so fast! Even though I'm not going back to school in the fall, I still don't want summer to end.

Next week I'm going camping, from the 9th to the 12th. I'm kind of excited, I haven't been in a long time.

Today I did a big clean of my work area, and I feel so much better and I think I can be a lot more productive now!

I hope to have my next dresses done soon!

I guess that's all I really have to say.

I hope everyone is having a great day!
